Mamie Florence Steele's Obituary
Mamie Florence Steele joined her loving husband, Ronald Blair Steele, son, Michael Blair Steele, and parents, Marco and Lillian Gassera, in their heavenly home. She passed away peacefully on October 28, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 12,1929 and raised in Brooklyn, NY.
She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her daughters, Susan Speciale and Carolyn Payne; granddaughters, Sabina Payne and Erica Steele; and son-in-law, Steve Payne, and daughter-in-law, Marcy Steele.
She and her husband, Ronald, married in New York; and shortly thereafter, moved to south Texas, eventually settling in Dallas to raise their family. She showed her strength when she raised her three teenagers after her husband's death.
Education was very important to Mamie. She completed a bachelor's degree in Art History at the University of Texas at Dallas, and a master's degree in Library Science at Texas Woman's University. She ensured her children followed in her and Ronald's footsteps toward higher education.
Mamie was passionate about her family, faith, education, travels, cooking, politics, compassionate giving to others, volunteering, and a true love of art. Mamie was an artist at heart. She expressed her gift by the pieces she produced: oil painting, life sculpture, animal sculpture, bronze sculpture and clay pottery.
Mamie opened her home to many family and friends. She loved to "feed" her family and friends with delicious dishes and conversation. Her sense of humor, kindness and support will never be forgotten. She will be truly missed by her loving family and friends.
