Manuel Estevan Gomez Jr.'s Obituary
Manuel “Steve” Gomez, Jr. was born in Dallas, TX on January 9, 1969. He was the 5th child and only son of Esther Juarez and Manuel Esteban Gomez, Sr. On the evening of October 20, 2015, Steve passed away peacefully at the age of 46. He was preceded in death by both of his parents and his older sister Mary. He is survived by his children Jennifer Gomez, Steven Gomez and his granddaughter, Payton Gomez, his wife Laurie Flores. His sisters: Lily Slay and her husband Phillip, Angie Caudillo and her husband Cesar, Mary Lou Welton and her husband Carl, Margie Gomez and her husband Salvador and Rebeca Gomez along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members including his “BLUE” FAMILY. Steve had a zest for life. His primary passion was his children and especially his granddaughter Payton. If you thought he was always smiling before she was born, he would grin from ear to ear anytime he thought, talked or saw her. Steve loved and served honorably as a deputy sheriff for Dallas County for over 20 years. He was a jokester and would always try to make people laugh. He loved helping people and there was not a person he ran into that he wouldn’t try to help. He was the guy people went to when they were in need for anything. If he couldn’t help, he would find someone that could. He touched so many lives and made a huge impact in most of them. The family would like to thank everyone for all the prayers, positive thoughts and support through these tough times. Special thanks to the medical staff at Baylor University Medical Center, the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department, the National Latino Peace Officers Association. These past three weeks have been a challenge as we know now God was preparing us for this. He didn’t leave us, he forever remains in our hearts. The visitation for Manuel Gomez, Jr. will be Thursday, October 22, 2015 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM followed by a Rosary at 7:00 PM in The Memorial Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. The Mass for Manuel will be held on Friday, October 23, 2015 at 10:00 AM at St. Pius. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243 at Restland Road.
