Marcia Rey Walker McConnell, wife, mother, grandmother, and loyal friend to many, passed away on March 21, 2026, at the age of 84. Born on May 21, 1941, Marcia lived a life defined by generosity, service, and a deep sense of responsibility to care for those around her.
Her kindness was steady and sincere, felt by many who were fortunate enough to know her. Friends and neighbors alike knew they could count on Marcia for support, compassion, and unwavering loyalty.
She found purpose in caring for others and took great pride in creating a sense of community wherever she lived. Marcia had a gift for making people feel seen and valued, often putting the needs of others before her own. Her life was a quiet example of service rooted in love, humility, and commitment.
Marcia is survived by her loving husband, Mike Norton; her son, Jim Burns; her daughter-in-law, Courtney Burns; and her cherished grandchildren, Brooklyn Burns, Conley Burns, Berkley Burns, Bowen Burns, and John Alderson. Her family was her joy, and she delighted in supporting and encouraging each generation with wisdom and grace.
She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Kim Alderson; her sister, Sheila Walker; her brother, Gary Walker; and her parents, Howard and Neva Walker. Though deeply missed, Marcia carried their memories with her and honored them through the way she lived.
Marcia’s legacy is one of kindness freely given and a life spent serving others without expectation of recognition. The impact she made—on family, friends, and neighbors—will continue to be felt long after her passing.
A celebration of Marcia’s life will be held at Restland Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 1, at 2:00 PM. The family wishes to thank all who offered love, care, friendship, and support throughout her life and during this time of loss.
