Mardi Jones Bryant's Obituary
Mardi Bryant Jones has joined her loving husband of 65 years, Cliff, in God’s glorious kingdom. We know they are dancing together once again. She died of natural causes at the age of91. Mardi’s positive energy for life was undeniable. She grew up as the only daughter of Henry and Margaret Bryant in Waukesha, Wisconsin, the ham in the sandwich between four brothers. After graduating from Lawrence University with a degree in drama, she followed her dream of being a working Actress in New York City. Her favorite role was playing Peter Pan in an off-Broadway production. Cliff found her singing with her guitar in an ice show at the New Yorker Hotel and he was smitten. He brought her to Dallas after their marriage in 1949. Mardi continued performing in Dallas as “the Girl Next Door” with her guitar, on the Mr. Peppermint Show. She founded and danced with the Sacred Dance Choir of Highland Park Presbyterian Church where she was a member for 52 years and served as Deacon. She moderated the Grief and Response committee for several years. She was an original Board member of Dallas Children’s Theater, President of Church Women United, on the phones of the Suicide and Crisis Center and active in the local Delta Gamma Alumni Chapter. Mardi was an amazing Mom to Trip and Robin. She enjoyed being an active Grandmother to Heather, Bridget and Summer. She loved her relationship with son in law, Bill McGowan and grand sons in law Eric Anderson, Kyle Peppler and Neil Sommerlatte. We want to thank the staff at the Plaza at Edgemere for their loving care in her final years. You met all her needs and made her feel special. Mardi is survived by her brothers John and Brate Bryant, Tony Bryant and his dear wife Andrea who reside in her native Wisconsin. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who she adored. A Celebration of her Life will be held at Highland Park Presbyterian Church in Wynne Chapel on Monday, July 27th at 11 a.m. Instead of flowers, please honor Mardi by gifts to Dallas Children’s Theater, 5938 Skillman, Dallas 75231. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243 at Restland Road.
