Margaret Ann Baker's Obituary
Our precious Ann went home to be with her loving Savior, November 8, 2008, after an 18 month battle with cancer. She was born November 27, 1929 in Gallup, New Mexico to William Guy Self and Gertrude Stanley Self. Her life was joyful because of Jesus. She was raised primarily in West Texas, graduating from Olton High School in 1947 and from Howard Payne University in 1951, where she was later honored as one of their Outstanding Alumni. She was married to Richard Dee Baker on August 24, 1951 and she and her sweetheart were a team together for 57 years. She supported him throughout his ministry in music evangelism and as a Minister of Music at Birchman Avenue Baptist Church (’51 – ’57) and later at Prestonwood Baptist Church from 1978 – 1992. She is survived by her husband Dick, and by their children Paul Dee Baker and his wife Sallie Baker and Lori Ann Simmons and her husband John Simmons. She was a precious Gran to her grandchildren, Chris and Clint Baker, Will Simmons and his wife Bethany , and her only granddaughter, Ann Simmons. She is also survived by her brother James Self and his wife Gloria, and brother-in-law Bo Baker and his wife Ruth. She leaves her niece Elizabeth Tribelli and her husband Mark, niece Lisa Baker and her husband Troy, and nephew David Baker. Gran was the heartbeat of our family and we rejoice that she is no longer ill and is in the presence of our Lord, and with so many loved ones on glory-side. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 11, at 2:00 pm at Prestonwood Baptist Church of Plano. The family wished to thank so many dear friends who have lifted her up in prayer through this past year. Memorials may be made to Sondra Saunders Children’s Building, Prestonwood Baptist Church,6801 W. Park Blvd., Plano TX, 75893 or to the Sammons Cancer Center, Baylor Medical Center (800) 323-Path (7284).
