Margaret Louise Commons' Obituary
Margaret L. (Maggie) Commons departed this earth on November 13, 2022, just three days shy of her 98th birthday.
Maggie was born Margaret Louise Herrin on November 16, 1924 in Dallas, Texas. Her mother died when Maggie was very young. Her father, who worked as a mechanic during the depression, was unable to raise a child on his own so she was raised by an aunt and uncle in Dallas.
After graduating from high school, Maggie was employed as a clerk at Continental Supply Company in Dallas, where she met her future husband. Their engagement was interrupted by World War II but continued through the U.S. Postal System.
Maggie married Edward Milton (Milt) Commons in February 1946 after he returned from military service. Milt’s job took the family from Dallas to the Texas Panhandle to Midland, to St. Louis, to Chicago, and back to Amarillo. After Milt’s retirement, they moved to Plano, TX to be closer to grandchildren.
Maggie was a Christian, a loving wife and mother, gracious hostess, avid bridge player, and a wonderful cook and baker. Her home was her castle, and she kept it immaculately clean and tastefully decorated. She was kind, caring, and considerate of all people she met. Maggie’s family and friends will miss her radiant smile, her tender touch, her warm heart, her loving care, and her unfailing spirit. Maggie’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren called her “Mamaw.” We love you, Mamaw!
Maggie was preceded in death by her husband, daughter Carol Brosowske, and great-granddaughter, Olivia Grace Brosowske. Surviving are her son, Ed (Marilyn) Commons, Amarillo, TX, son-in-law, James Brosowske, Plano, TX, granddaughter, Emily Margaret (Stephanie Abney) Brosowske, McKinney, TX, grandsons, Matthew (Brittany) Brosowske, Anna, TX, and Jeffrey (Haley) Brosowske, Texarkana, AR, and great-grandchildren, Elisa, Emberlyn, Kylo, and Tristan.
The family is planning a private inurnment service.
