Margaret Ann Day's Obituary
Margaret Ann Day, 95 years of age, passed peacefully on Tuesday April 30, 2024.
Margaret was born October 19,1928 in Plainview, Texas. She was the oldest of 2 children. Margaret was raised locally and graduated from Farmersville High School. She lived most of her adult life in Garland Texas. A devoted employee, she spent 20 years working for Rio Grande National Life and almost 50 years for a Dallas law firm established by Frank Newman. She was assistant to the president for both companies.
Margaret married the late Charles Leslie Day in 1947, and 3 children were born from this union. She professed her life to Christ at an early age. She was an active member of Freeman Heights Baptist Church in Garland. She loved working in ministry and cherished praising the Lord. She always enjoyed being of service. She served as a Board member of “The Rock” - a Youth Center and Food pantry ministry of Freeman Heights; and she dedicated a lot of her time ministering there. Margaret always held a special place in her heart for families in need.
After residing in her home in Garland for over 60 years, Margaret moved to Flower Mound to be closer to her son and his family in 2021. She resided at Pinewood Hills Senior Living community, where she made new friends and enjoyed tending her flowers on a wraparound porch. She attended First Baptist Lewisville and made many new and dear friends in her Sunday school class.
Margaret loved reading her bible, praying for, and spending time with family. She was a loving and caring person, devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She was a true prayer warrior, a pillar of faith and set a standard for all who knew her. She had a direct influence in her extended family following in the Lord’s footsteps.
Margaret was proceeded in death by her oldest child, Janice Gilley. She leaves to cherish her loving memory, her sister - Linda Lewis, her children - Carolyn Smith and Robert Day, 13 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation at Restland Funeral Home: Monday, May 6, from 6 – 8pm
Service at Restland Memorial Chapel: Tuesday May 7, 2pm, (Graveside following)
