Margaret Winefred Dimmitt's Obituary
Margaret of Denton, Texas left us to be reunited with her honey on January 21, 2017 at age 88. She was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on September 1, 1928. Margaret grew up in Cedar Rapids, Ia. She could dance beautifully on roller skates. She went to work for Collins Radio/Alcatel for 32 years. We are so proud that she worked on the radio systems for all of the NASA Apollo missions. She was instrumental in making sure the crews radios worked for getting them back home on Apollo 13. Margaret also loved to travel. She was a globe trotter and cruised all over the world. Transatlantic cruises were always her favorite. Setting foot on every continent, she visited Africa twice. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents Rose Mae and Clifford Hare, and her “Honey”, William “Pinky” Dimmitt, “BILL D” when he was in trouble. They were married for 43 years. Margaret and Bill had two children. Judy Van Loan and Janet Beavers, both still living in Denton. Margaret was dearly loved by her grandchildren – Christopher Beavers and his wife Donna of Fort Worth and Shannon Wilkerson and her “fella, according to Margaret” Jason Looney of Denton. She also leaves behind her only great grandchild Riley Wilkerson who is attending the University of Oklahoma. A Memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM, Saturday, January 28, 2017 at the Restland Memorial Chapel in Dallas, TX. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243.
