Margaret Ann Fox's Obituary
Margaret Ann Plaxco Fox, 80, of Dallas, Texas, passed away at Iris Memory Care Center in Rowlett, Texas, on Monday, July 15th, 2024, at 11:08 am of dementia. She was born March 20th, 1944, in Ft. Worth, Texas to Gaines and Margaret Plaxco.
Margaret attended Bellevue High School in Bellevue, Texas where she was Class Valedictorian in 1962. After high school, Margaret attended Draughon’s Business College in Ft. Worth, Texas where she trained to become a legal secretary. Over the course of her career, Margaret worked for CF&I Steel in Ft. Worth, Resalab in Dallas, and Trinity Industries in Dallas. Margaret was a dedicated employee and enjoyed her time working in the business world. On October 19th, 1968, Margaret was married to Nathan Fox at the Statler Hotel in Dallas.
Margaret was the oldest of five siblings and loved the role of being the “big sister” even though she stood only five foot tall. She was a music enthusiast and loved playing the piano growing up and singing in her church choir. She also loved playing sports, particularly basketball. She loved telling the story of how she scored 21 free throw shots in a row. Margaret had a big personality and never met a stranger. She was loved for her magnetic smile, her quick wit and her immense energy. She was affectionately known as the “Energizer Bunny” because she never stopped moving.
Margaret was a devout Southern Baptist and loved attending Sunday School and church. She loved reading her bible and singing gospel music. She attended Wilshire Baptist Church for over 30 years and later in life transferred her membership to First Baptist Rockwall where she could attend with her daughter’s family.
Margaret is survived by her husband of 55 years, Nathan, her daughter Laurie Mason, son-in-law Rick, grandchildren Ryan, Madeline and Caroline, sister Nancy DeVaney (Lee), brothers Barry Plaxco (Lisa), Larry Plaxco (Theresa), sister-in-law JoAnn Plaxco, nieces Allison Sample (Josh), Kate Plaxco, Madison Plaxco, nephews Curt Plaxco (Heather), Carl Plaxco (Brandy), Taylor DeVaney (Claudia), Ross Plaxco, Mason Plaxco, great nieces Jessica Wells (Jeff), Camryn Plaxco, Julia Sample and great nephew Parker Plaxco. She is preceded in death by her parents, Gainer and Margaret Plaxco and younger brother, Gaines Plaxco.
A funeral will be held Monday, July 22nd, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Park at 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, Texas 75243.
Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association to help with the research to end Alzheimer’s and all other dementia.
