Margaret Elwell Glassett's Obituary
Glassett, Margaret Margaret Elwell Fisher Glassett died at the age of 86, Sunday, October 10, 2010 at Baylor Hospital after a struggle with pancreatic cancer. Margaret spent her life devoted to the Lord, her family, and her church family. Her selfless, sweet spirit impacted all she knew. At the time of her death, she and her husband, Tom Glassett, were active members of Oates Drive Baptist Church in Mesquite, Texas. As a preacher’s wife and Sunday-School teacher, she was an exemplary testimony to her Lord. In 1988, after the death of her husband, Reverend Larry Fisher, she immediately began volunteer mission work for the Mission Service Corp of the Baptist General Convention of Texas. In 1995, she met and married Tom Glassett, her devoted husband of 15 years. Margaret is survived by her husband, Tom Glassett; daughters and sons-in-law, Sherri and Jim Reed, Laura and Richard De La Matyr and Cyndi and Phillip Miesner; step-daughter and her husband, Mary and Paul Koetting; grandchildren, Michelle Pitts Klabukov, Dr. Jim Pitts, Tiffany Brister Arizmendi, Melody Brister and John Brister; step-grandchildren, Paul Ryan, Marissa, and Katrina; great-grandaughter, Mena Klabukov; sister-in-law and long time friend, Dorothy Elwell; and her brother James’ children Ronald, Tim, and Tammy Elwell. On the Fisher side of her family she is survived by her brother-in-law.and wife, Robert and Marlene Fisher, sister-in-law, Wanda Prather and Wanda’s children, Shirley, Dewey Gail, Betty, and Roger. Margaret is predeceased by her first husband and father of her children, Reverend Larry Fisher; her brothers, Henry and James Elwell.; and on the Fisher side of the family, brother-in-law, Dewey Prather. Visitation will be held at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas, Texas on October 13, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 P.M. The funeral service will be at Oates Drive Baptist Church 2805 Oates Dr., Mesquite, Texas 75150 on Thursday, October 14, 2010 at 10:00 am.
