Margaret Elizabeth Hervey's Obituary
Margaret Elizabeth “Peggy” Hervey was born November 19, 1935, in Avery, Texas to Irene Moore McCullough and Hollis “Jink” McCullough. She married Harold Lynn Hervey on July 8, 1955, in Dallas, Texas. Peggy passed away on July 5, 2023, in Keene, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother, Ray McCullough. She is survived by her daughter, Debi Cloninger, of Burleson, Texas; sisters Jane Herring of Quitman, Texas, Sue Craig of Dallas, Texas, and June Whistler of Florida; granddaughters Caitlin Guerrero and Shannon Brown of Burleson, Texas; great grandchildren Alex and Emily Guerrero and Noah and Cameron Brown of Burleson, Texas; and lifelong best friend and “honorary sister” Vira Rubin of Dallas, Texas.
Peggy moved to Dallas, Texas shortly after high school and started her nursing career. She earned her RN degree in 1978 and retired in 2013. She worked at Parkland Hospital for most of her nursing career and spent her later years serving as a home health nurse. She loved gardening, her many animals, crocheting, collecting dolls and Barbies, and hosting Christmas Eve dinner for her family. Her favorite food were the burritos and tacos that her best friend, Vira, made for her. She enjoyed watching professional sports such as football, basketball, and Nascar and had many autographs from famous players and drivers. Her favorite NFL player was Charlie Waters of the Dallas Cowboys and her favorite NBA player was Dirk Nowitzki of the Dallas Mavericks. She was also an avid amateur genealogist and was blessed to be able to take a trip to Ireland for a family reunion in 2002, which she greatly enjoyed and talked about for the rest of her life. She lived in Dallas, Texas until 2023 and passed away shortly after moving to Burleson, Texas. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
