Margaret Anne Johnson's Obituary
Mrs. Margaret Anne Medders Johnson, of Benton Arkansas passed away on peacefully on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, with her son Jeff and a minister at her bedside. She was born in Madera, California on April 30th, 1937, to Mr. Leonard Tipton and Alice Sewell.
“Anne” was a devout servant of Jesus Christ for 88 years. Wherever you would find her she would be serving. She drove a school bus for special needs children for many years and then switched over to driving for the senior citizens center. She was a faithful member of the Mesquite Church of Christ for 55 years, where she taught Sunday school for generations of children including the first cradle role class (insisting that babies could learn). For many years she hosted a Thanksgiving lunch at the church building, for people who didn’t have any family close by.
Anne’s hands were always busy. She crocheted blankets for every baby born at her church and after she moved to Arkansas, she made lap blankets to donate to nursing homes. During the pandemic in 2020 she began to volunteer with Hunger Relief Army where she applied labels on a half a million food packets for neighbors in need.
She was a devoted wife and mother. She was married to Harvey Medders Jr. for 35 years until his passing in 1991. They had 4 children: Seburne Medders, Sheila Medders Sims, Glenda Medders Clyburn, and Jeff Medders. After Harvey’s passing Anne married Eddie Johnson and treated his two children Eddie Allen Johnson and Janice Childs as if they were her own. Anne was Eddie’s faithful partner as he travelled all over the region preaching funerals and doing hospital visitation of members of the Mesquite Church.
Anne was preceded in death not only by her two husbands, but also by her two oldest children: Seburne and Sheila.Anne is survived by her daughter-in-law Paula Medders and family, son-in law-Charles Sims and family, Glenda Clyburn and family, and Jeff Medders and family. Anne had 15 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
