Margaret Anderson Joyce's Obituary
Joyce, Margaret Anderson born January 9, 1943 in South Bend, Indiana and passed away November 25, 2019 in Richardson, Texas. Survived by devoted husband of 56 years, Thomas Joyce of Richardson, Texas; son John Joyce of Richardson, Texas; daughter Lara Henderson and husband Joe Henderson of Richardson, Texas; daughter Erin Pacione and husband David Pacione of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren Johnny and Maggie Henderson; and Lilly, Nicky and Matthew Pacione; and sister Marianne Wilkins and husband Dennis Wilkins of Mobile, Alabama. Graduated St Joseph’s High School in South Bend, Indiana in 1960 and Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana in 1964. The hallmark of Margaret’s life was absolute devotion to family. She was the foundation of her family, starting with the love she shared with her husband of 56 years, Tom. They forged a life together while he completed his PhD at Purdue, served in the United States Air Force at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio, and beginning in 1972, as Texans. Margaret embraced her role as wife and mother. She always answered the call for volunteers serving as classroom room mother, president of the PTA, church choir director, chaperone, Girl Scout leader, supply cart organizer, and any other task requested by her children’s schools. Together with her husband Tom, Margaret enthusiastically accepted her role as a BQ Mom for her son, John, when he joined the Fighting Texas Aggie Band at Texas A&M University. Margaret and Tom faithfully followed the Aggie Band for four years and fed lots of hungry cadets after each game by bringing coolers full of homemade food with them each time they visited. Margaret and Tom continued in their love and support of their children who all attended Texas A&M by attending all home games and bringing homemade Thanksgiving dinner down to College Station for Bonfire and the annual Thanksgiving game against t.u. Many additional friends enjoyed these wonderful dinners with Margaret. One of Margaret’s most cherished role was that of grandmother. She loved all five of her grandchildren and was closely involved in their lives. She was the caretaker for Lilly, Nicky and Matthew before they were old enough to attend school. She was the place the grandchildren would go when they were sick and absent from school. She was a fixture of the carpool line at St. Paul School and Parkhill Junior High School, picking up the kids while their mothers attended faculty meetings after school. All who knew Margaret were touched by her devotion to family, her long faithfulness to God, and her unwavering love of her husband, Tom. She taught all who met her how to put the needs of others before self and how to plan and complete even the largest of tasks. She was a long-time parishioner at St. Paul Catholic Church in Richardson and then All Saints Catholic Church in Dallas. She shared her faith with her family and seamlessly incorporated the Catholic traditions with family traditions. She will be greatly missed and remembered by her family, especially her grandchildren.Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243.
