Margaret Mahurin's Obituary
Margaret Mahurin, of Reston, Virginia, passed away on August 13, 2015 at home surrounded by her family. She is survived by her beloved husband of 38 years, Robert Mahurin; her daughter, Catherine Fraga and her husband John; and her son, Charles Collins. She was predeceased by her son, John Collins, and her brother, Peter Kraus. In addition, she leaves behind her grandchildren, Tyler and Meredith Fraga. Margaret was born in Akron, Ohio and graduated from the University of Akron with a degree in Medical Technology, working many years in that field. In retirement, she enjoyed volunteer opportunities at her church as well as in the local community. She was an active “young” lady that loved to travel, play golf, bridge, and the piano. Her family was fortunate to celebrate her 80th birthday on May 22, 2015, cherishing those final memories. Among her many admirable qualities, Margaret will be remembered most for her strength and devotion to her son, Charles. She provided remarkable care throughout his life and was his biggest fan at his Special Olympics events. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Catholic Services will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at the Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home in Dallas, Texas at 12:30 pm. Interment will be at Restland Memorial Park directly following the services. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Reston, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation, National Kidney Foundation, or Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
