Margaret Ann Moore's Obituary
Margaret Ann (Flood) Moore was born in 1923 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to parents Mary Barnett Rossington Flood and Dennis Owen Flood. She graduated from Classen High School where she excelled in Academics and in Student Government. She was awarded the Classen Award her senior year. While in High School she met Lester Layne Moore Jr. They dated throughout High School and College, and were married in 1944. Margaret held undergraduate degrees from Monticello College and The University of Oklahoma, and a Masters Degree from Southern Methodist University. She served as a teacher and administrator for Richardson Independent School District for 25 years, and then served in an advisory role for education majors at Texas A&M University and Richland College.
Over the years, she was active in various community and social organizations. She was a member of honoraries; Beta Gamma Sigma, Chi Delta Rho, and Phi Delta Kappa. She was also a member of the Alpha Chi Omega Alumnae National Chapter. Margaret was an active member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church for over six decades.
Margaret was an avid Texas Rangers Baseball Team Fan. (and she got to experience them winning their first World Series).
She is predeceased by Les, her husband for over 67 years; sister, Mary Elizabeth Flood Hutton and brother in law, Donald William Hutton of Phoenix; daughter in law, Kathy Moore and nephew in law, Charles McLemore.
Margaret is survived by her son, Greg Moore of Austin; son, Brad and Sue Moore of Dallas; niece, Rev. Ann Hutton McLemore of Griffen, GA; nephew, William and Donna Hutton of Woodstock, GA; four grandchildren; Megan and David Walters, Jeff and Paula Moore, Shelley Moore, and Garrett Moore and five great-grandchildren; Natalie, Audrey, Reilly, Brendan and Gavin.
On August 7th, she celebrated her 101st birthday with family and friends at her home in Dallas. Margaret Ann Moore passed away three weeks later on August 29th, peacefully breathing her last breath.
Margaret's family wishes to graciously thank her caregivers, who helped her continuously as though she were a dear friend and kin. Thank you Adelyn, Phyllis, Connie, Taniqua, Nora and Gloria.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 4th, at 10:30 am at the Wildwood Chapel at Restland Cemetery, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations, in Margaret Ann Moore's honor, be made to UT Southwestern Medical Center - Department of Ophthalmology or to the organization of your choice.
