Margaret Peacock's Obituary
Margaret Peacock graduated to be with the Lord on October 6, 2016. She passed away peacefully at the age of 94 and began her time in eternity in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Margaret was born Margaret Marie Lynch on July 23, 1922 in Macon, Georgia. She graduated from Miller High School in Macon in 1940 and married her high school sweetheart, Floyd Peacock on Easter Sunday, April 5, 1942. She worked for Western Union in El Paso, Texas in 1944 in order to be near her husband who was in the United States Air Force and stationed at Biggs Field. She was a Volunteer Driver for the Red Cross during World War II. She was the Vice President of an industrial manufacturing company named the Floyd C. Peacock Company for 15 years and produced the idea for the company’s best-selling product. As a young mother of 3 children, she was involved in Church and community activities. She was: Choir Mother for 6 years for the Calvary Baptist Church Children’s Choir; Room Mother at Rosemont Elementary School for 6 years; and Girl Scout Leader of Troop 128 of Dallas for 8 years. Margaret became interested in photography in the mid 1950’s; attended photography classes at SMU in 1967; produced collector photography albums for family members portraying their lifetimes; and enjoyed the benefits of taking and viewing photographs. She became interested in ceramics in the early 1970’s, attended classes at Klay Kastle Ceramics; purchased kiln’s, paints, brushes, instruments and equipment and produced ceramics and gave them as gifts to others. Her ceramic creations appeared in Popular Ceramics Magazine. She won awards for the quality of her ceramics on many occasions at the Southwest Ceramic Show including the Freddie Award (Best of Show Award for Hobbies) in 1993. Margaret’s passion was cooking and it was well known that her cooking was beyond excellence. At the State Fair of Texas Baking Championship in 1993, she won First Prize for her Carrot Cake in the Cake Baking Division involving 72 contestants and her receipe was published in 1994 in the State Fair of Texas COOKBOOK. She was a member of Park Cities Baptist Church for 38 years and was a Prayer Chairwoman for the Mary Martha Sunday School Class. Margaret had a sweet and gracious spirit and heart. She loved her family and was a loving, caring and compassionate mother, wife, grandmother and great-grandmother. She had gifts of hospitality, encouragement and faith and her life was an expression of the love that God seeks from His believers. She will be missed by all who knew her. Margaret was preceded in death by her father, G.R. Lynch, mother, Ina Cleo Glass Lynch, and husband of 62 years, Floyd C. Peacock. She is survived by: her children, Stephen Peacock, Kay Watkins and Cherie Beavers; granddaugh-ters, Michelle Lamm and Monica Calderon and her husband Cesar; grandson, William Beavers and his wife, Teri; great-grand-daughters Heather Ulmer, Maribella Calderon, Rachel, Emily, Will and Jack Beavers, nieces and nephews; very special friend Richard Rieves and many other friends. Funeral services will take place at 10:00 AM on Saturday October 8, 2016 in Ellis Chapel at Park Cities Baptist Church. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243.
