Margaret Rose Selman's Obituary
Margaret Rose Wilkey Selman, 82, of Rockwall, Texas, closed her eyes one last time early in the afternoon of September 10, 2022. She was in her home surrounded by her memories and close family. A celebration of life will be held at 11:30 AM, Saturday, September 17,2022, at First Baptist Rockwall, 610 S Goliad, Rockwall, Texas 75087. Graveside burial will follow soon after at Restland Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Ave, Dallas, TX 75243. Friends may visit from 6:00 until 8:00 PM, Friday at Restland Funeral Home.
Margaret was born March 20, 1940, in Pilot, Texas, to Robert Ray Lee Wilkey and Doris Nell (Buchanan) Wilkey. She attended Forest Avenue High School in Dallas, Texas. On September 25, 1965, she married the love of her life, Harry Lee Selman in Dallas, Texas. They were married for 53 years and together raised a vast family who loved her dearly. Margaret was a registered nurse for over 25 years. She began and ended her career at Doctors Hospital Dallas. She was so very proud when both her daughter Janette and granddaughter Jessica followed directly in her footsteps. They became nurses and for a time worked for the same hospital. In retirement Margaret and Harry were active in their church and RV Travel Club. Sundays were spent in worship and fellowship with their beloved church family of First Baptist Rockwall. Margaret loved Jesus. There was zero doubt in her mind or heart of her salvation.
Margaret was the foundation of love and faith for her beloved husband, her children, her precious grandchildren, and rescue pets Winter and Mille. Margaret faithfully cared for her family and friends throughout her life, and she will always be remembered for her genuine spirit and true kindness to all. Margaret was a pillar of love and strength for others. Her family was her light, and her heart was made of gold. She leaves behind a legacy of resilience, strength and gentle warmth that will be missed by many.
Margaret is survived by her daughters Dana Gatlin Aubrey of Mississippi, Andrea Denise Selman-Bass of Forney, Texas and Janna Dee Selman of Dallas, Texas, brother Robert Scott Wilkey of Longview, Texas, and a special niece Michelle Jackson of Terrell, Texas. 16 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren, along with countless family and friends. Margaret is preceded in death by her husband Harry Lee Selman, parents Robert Ray Lee Wilkey and Doris Nell Wilkey, and sister Jo Nell Sheppard. Her beloved son Steven Kent Gatlin, beautiful daughters Vicki Lynn Gatlin, Janette Selman Small, and grandson Joshua Paul Jordan.
