Margery "Margy" Kathleen Sears Reese's Obituary
Margery “Margy” Kathleen Sears Reese, 74, a lifetime resident of Dallas, TX, born August 24, 1949, passed July 17, 2024. She attended OLPH and St. Bernard Elementary Schools, Ursuline High School, and The University of Dallas, graduating in 1971 with a teaching degree. Margy taught and was an administrator in the Catholic Diocese of Dallas for 30+ years. Most notable were her years at Mary Immaculate and St. Mary of Carmel.
Margy loved and excelled at teaching. She was known as a challenging teacher who touched and molded many lives throughout her career. She was a faithful Catholic, praying daily with her first best friends Prici Mahaffey and Barbara Bernardo.
Married for 50 years to Joseph “Jody” Neal Reese. They met during their freshman year of college and married in 1970. They were the inseparable “Margy and Jody” to all who knew them.
Besides family, Margy had a lifelong hobby of reading. She and her sisters, sisters-in-law, and nieces would exchange “bags of books” at every family gathering.
Upon retirement, “Gramma Margy”/“Gramma Dallas”, became the best babysitter and cookie maker ever. She was a cheerleader near and far for all the grandkids’ sporting events and school activities. She always made time for texting and visiting her beloved nieces and nephews. Like her mom before her, every person was precious, and felt like they were her favorite.
We will miss Mom, Gramma, Aunt Margy, and friend every day. Knowing she is back with the love of her life, Dad/Jody, and the relatives she missed so dearly is the only consolation we need to be at peace with our loss.
Margy is preceded in death by her beloved husband Joseph Neal Reese, and she is survived by daughter Stacey Reese North of Dallas, husband Bill and daughters Abby and Kate; son Tim Reese of Santa Rosa Beach, FL and wife Sara Vahabzadeh Reese and children Sonny and Mia. Predeceased by her parents Sonny and Margery Sears and her beloved sister Leslie Knetsar. Survived by her brother Mike Sears and wife Margaret of Quitman, TX, brother-in-law Ron Knetsar of Houston, brother Larry Sears and wife Mona of Duvall, Washington, sister Nancy Spicer and husband Bobby of Palestine, TX, along with her many precious nieces and nephews.
