Margie Ann Backus' Obituary
Margie Ann Backus was born in Campbell, TX on 10/8/1933 to Roy Reeves & Jewell (Rogers) Reeves. She was the true meaning of a lady and set the highest example of love for our Lord and Savior. Margie passed away at her home in Rockwall, Texas with her husband by her side on July 3, 2022. She was a member of Lake Pointe Church in Rockwall. She was preceded in death by her parents Roy & Jewell; siblings, Wylie, John Al, Betty Zue, Kathleen and Rob.
Margie is survived by her spouse Wayne E. Backus of 71 years; her little Papillon puppy 'Faith'; 2 children, Clarinda Johnson (Brian) and Darren Backus (Charisse); 3 Grandchildren, Brandi Womble (Nate), Christopher Johnson (Natalie), Meccala Wright (Shane); 6 Great Children, Dakota, Dax, Kasen, Kessler, Luke, Lane and 1 more blessing set to arrive any day. She is also blessed by numerous surviving nieces and nephews that span across the entire country.
Margie graduated from Campbell, TX high school and married her high school sweetheart, Wayne Backus, on June 16, 1951. Their marriage was a true love story. Margie went to work as Vice President and Accountant for Backus Mobil in 1962. She and Wayne started the business, Margie's length of service was unmatched until they sold the company in March of 2015. The most utmost important thing in Margie's life was the love she had for her family and being a Nana. She had the utmost love for her animals. She thoroughly enjoyed reading, boating, and taking care of her home. On occasion, Margie enjoyed a good margarita, especially when she and Wayne would get the rare opportunity to escape the routine of everyday life and get a few days away.
She will be missed by her surviving friends and any acquaintances she's made throughout her lifetime. She was truly loved by all.
A viewing will be held Friday July 15th, 2022, from 11:00 to 12:00 in the Chapel at the Lake Pointe Campus - Rockwall; 701 E. Interstate 30, Rockwall, TX 75087. Funeral Services will start immediately following at the same location from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. After the service, a lunch will be served for family and friends, from 1:00 to 2:15 p.m. After lunch a brief graveside service will be held at Rest Haven Cemetery, 2500 State Hwy 66 East, Rockwall, TX 75087, for anyone wishing to attend.
