Margie "Kay" Barton's Obituary
Kay Barton was born in Dallas, Texas to Bryan A. and Hildred Barton on September 30, 1940. She worked and lived in Dallas until her death on April 16, 2026.
Kay attended Park Cities Schools and Highland Park High School and graduated with the class of 1958. From there she went on to attend and graduate from TCU where she was an active member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. After college, Kay taught school for over 30 years at George W. Truett Elementary and was a devoted teacher to every student that passed through her classrooms.
After retirement Kay enjoyed reading, games, crosswords and other puzzles to keep her mind sharp. Kay had a large group of friends from her school years that she cherished until her death. It was with a group of ten of these friends, some of whom she had known since elementary school, that she had some of the most fun of her long life. Once a year they made a plan to take a trip together. The destination really wasn’t that important to any of them. It was the camaraderie that made their trips such a delight.
Thanks for the memories Ann, Karen, Judy, Mary Ann, Wissy, Brenda, Judy, Susan and of course Kay.
Kay is survived by her sister Jean Schunder and husband Larry, nephew Robert Schunder, niece Kelsey Schunder and husband Tommy, Sam and Kate Capehart and her much adored great nieces and great nephew John Capehart, Emma Rodgers, Avery Capehart and Lizzy Rodgers. This list would not be complete without mentioning her beloved dogs, Sky and Tonto. They were all the light of her life.
Donations may be made in her name to Stray to Play Dog Rescue or any charity of your choice.
