Margie M. Mead's Obituary
Margie Mae Mead, of Mesquite, Texas, was surrounded by family when she passed away peacefully on Friday, May 20, 2022, in Plano, Texas
Margie was born on February 7, 1940, in Dallas, Texas, to Ernest and Edney Slaughter.
She met the love of her life, Arlin Daulton Mead, while attending high school in Richardson, Texas. They married on October 27, 1958, in Oklahoma.
Margie had a large and loving family and was overjoyed to welcome her two sons, Bart Wesley and Daulton Jantzen. She often said the best part of her life was raising her two boys in Allen, Texas.
She loved spending time with her aunt Eunice’s daughter, Robin Moore. Margie considered Robin the daughter Margie never had.
Margie loved her extended family, especially the babies. She attended many family events looking for a baby to hold. It was even more special if it was one of her grandbabies, but any baby would do.
Margie was a lifelong reader and loved crossword puzzles. She could also play a mean game of gin rummy.
Margie was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, sister-in-law, aunt, friend, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She was loved by all, graceful in all things and will be greatly missed.
Margie is preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Wayne (Jan) Slaughter and Bruce (PJ) Slaughter.
She is survived by: her husband, Daulton; her two sons Bart (Sharon) and Jantzen (Deidre); grandchildren, Danielle (Jeremy) Hood, Katy Mead, Jake (Cheyenne) Mead, Frankie (Shayla) Mead, Sarah (Jeremy) Jennings and Isabella Mead; her great-grandchildren, Brianna Hood, Riley Hood, Bryce Hood, Alison Jennings, Harper Jennings, Jasper Mead and Annabelle Mead; sisters Ernestine (J. T.) Trammel, Pat (Willie) Black, Glenda (Jimmy) O’Neal and Judy (Billy) Cox; and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
