Marguerite Boggs' Obituary
BOGGS, MARGUERITE the seventh child of eight, born to Beverly D. and Dudley Barksdale Cargill, on February 5th, 1916, in Campti, LA. She passed gracefully on Monday, August 30th, 2010, at the age of 94. Marguerite grew up in Shreveport, LA, where she graduated high school with high honors, and then attended secretarial college. After marrying her husband of 67 years, Sam Henry Boggs, they moved to Dallas in 1938. She worked as an executive administrator in several milestone companies, including Otis Engineering, McMains Advertising, and Maracaibo Oil, and then finally as the right hand assistant to Ernest, Joseph & Tricia Wilson, before retiring in her late sixties. Always active members of their community, Marguerite and Sam were prize-winning square dancers, winning a contest at the Fort Worth stock show in the days when the popularity of square-dancing was first taking hold. They were vibrant and supportive members of the First United Methodist Church, Dallas, for most of their lives, until attending Sunday services became impossible for them just about a decade ago. She loved to play games, taking part in Bingo, Wheel of Fortune and Blackjack, until her last days at her assisted living center, Monticello West in Dallas. Marguerite is survived by her son, Robert Boggs, his wife, Mary Boggs, their daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Jeremy Wanamaker, and her two great-grandsons, Seth 14, and Beckett, 10; as well as many nephews, nieces, and great- nephews and nieces, living in the Metroplex, and around the US. Graveside services will be held at Restland Funeral Home on Thursday, September 2nd, at 3pm, visitation will precede the services, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. “GMama, you will be missed!” Graveside service will be held at 3:00PM, Thursday, September 2, 2010 at Restland Memorial Park with visitation 1:00PM – 1:30PM, prior to service at Restland Funeral Home.
