Marguerite Coit's Obituary
Marguerite Coit was born on November 14, 1917 in Palestine, Texas to the parentage of Joe Harrison and Eliza Holt Harrison. Brothers Willie P. Harrison, Cornelius Harrison, sisters Bertha Jones and Ada Cherry preceded her in death. Marguerite grew up in Lake Como, Fort Worth, Texas. She was educated in the Fort Worth ISD. She was married to Roland Coit Sr. and with that union, three children were born. During her life time, she was a mother, caregiver, and an excellent cook. Also, she was involved in the community, where she was a poll worker. She also served as a PTA President of Hamilton Park School. Marguerite was a member of Bethel AME Church, St. Paul White Rock AME Church, where she served as a Stewardess. Later she joined Hamilton Park United Methodist Church and was a member of the Mature Adults Ministry (M.A.M.). In this ministry, she was responsible for sending birthday, sympathy, anniversary, and get well cards to M.A.M. members. In addition, she was a life time member of the Viola Court #180 Heroines of Jericho and served as a Matron until her health prevented her participation. November 11, 2016, Marguerite went home to be with the Lord. God allowed us to be blessed by her life for Ninety-Eight years. She is preceded in death by her husband Roland Coit Sr., her siblings, her niece, Helen Hickman and nephew, William Jones. Left to cherish her precious memories are: daughter, Beulah K. Giddings (Maynard) California, son, Roland Coit Jr. (Thelma), daughter, Sheila N. Butler (Charles Sr. deceased); grandchildren: Roland Coit III (Pamela), Shannon Coit, Christine Giddings, Trenton Coit (Nicky), Charles Butler II, Chris Coit (Tamara), Kenneth Giddings; great-grandchildren: Cameron Warren (Shay Tyra), Taylor Coit, Jhordyn Coit, Dajanae Mingo, Kennedy Coit, Amanda Butler, Logan Coit, Tamir Navarro; niece, Rosa L. Franklin; great-nieces: Autury Visitation will be open at 1:00 PM on Friday, November 18, 2016 at Restland Funeral Home. Service will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at 2:30 PM in the Memorial Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted into Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, Texas 75243.
