Carmen leaves her loved ones with unforgettable memories and loving stories. She will be sincerely missed by her loving family, devoted friends, and all the wonderful individuals who knew and loved her.
After graduation from high school in Guatemala, Carmen moved to Texas to continue her education at the University of Dallas. While going to school, she met the love of her life, Clayton, and they were married on April 26, 1968. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree and followed her passion, which included teaching art where her children attended school. Carmen later transitioned to a career in banking, where she was very successful and made many lifelong friends. She was a wonderful mom, raising 3 loving children, Colin, Craig, and Christine, a loving mother-in-law to Jennifer, Stacy, and Robert, a beloved “G-ma” to Taylor, Corissa, Shelby, Morgan, Kylie, Logan, and Kendall, and loving “Tia Vita” to numerous nieces and nephews.
She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and a faithful follower of Christ. She had many interests, including being a social butterfly with family and friends, being a talented artist, ‘50’s rock ‘n roll and country music, comedy sitcoms and movies. Her real passion was spending time with her husband, kids, and their families. She truly loved watching her grandkids grow up and was always there to support them through sporting events, dance recitals, orchestra concerts, school activities, and many special milestones through the years.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, Clayton Carrell. She is survived by her son Colin Carrell and his wife Jennifer; son Craig Carrell and his wife Stacy; daughter Christine (Carrell) Choate and her husband Robert; seven grandchildren, Taylor, Corissa, Shelby, Morgan, Kylie, Logan, and Kendall; and many nieces and nephews who all loved her.
