Our mother Maria was born in Sevilla, Spain on October 22, 1938. She was raised by her mother Maria Delores Diaz Tena and her older Brother Paco along with her Tita Christina and cousin Felix Lunar. She came to this country when she met our father Romeo Lopez in 1959 while he was deployed overseas in Spain with the United States Air Force.
They fell in love with each other and got engaged on her birthday and got married on his birthday, March 12,1960 so that he wouldn’t forget their anniversary.
She came to the United States not knowing how to read, write or speak the language and not knowing anything about this culture. But that did not stop her, she went to school and got her high school diploma and became a US citizen.
Our mom was a loving generous and caring woman who always put her family first and always made sure that we were taken care of. She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends that knew her.
Mom, we know that the Angels have you in a wonderful place with Grandma, Joey and Tita Christina. This is not a good-bye, this is just a farewell until we see each other again, to the most beautiful and best mother in the world. You will always be our hero and idle. We love you more than you will ever know.
There will be a memorial service for those who would like to say their final good-byes our mother Maria on January 7, 2023, from 3:00 – 5:00 PM in the main building.
