Marian Ruth Lindsey's Obituary
Marian Ruth Horton Lindsey passed away on August 10, 2021 at the age of 95. Marian was born January 27, 1926 in Los Angeles to Raymond H. Horton and Myrtle B. Fulkerson Horton, graduated from Manual Arts High School, and was an Eastern Star. She married James W. Lindsey (“Bill”) on February 15, 1945 and they were together for sixty-eight years until his passing in 2013. After raising three children and enjoying spending time with her two granddaughters, she worked part time for See’s Candies in the 1980’s in Prestonwood and North Park Mall in Dallas. She was a member of First United Methodist Church Dallas, TX, and a docent and volunteer with over 2000 hours at the Dallas Arboretum.
Marian was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Robert Horton and his wife Ruth, and their son Bobby Ray Horton, her husband Bill Lindsey, and their son Duane Lindsey. She is survived by her daughter Diane Hartsfield and her husband Duane; daughter Dina Lindsey; her granddaughters, Mary Beth Lindsey and her partner Amanda Vanlandingham; Marjorie Lindsey Allison, her husband Cory and their new baby daughter Holland Soulé Allison, Marian’s first great-granddaughter. She is also survived by niece Lori Ashton Raley and her husband Bill and their sons Michael and Jason, nephew Wm. Lindsey Ashton, niece Boni Shaw and husband Doug and niece Teri Horton and lifelong friend Carol Gene Love and her family.
Her family would like to thank for their exceptional care the staff of Jackson’s Place, the owner Joy Mbiwa, and Nurse Kendra for making her final years and days as comforting and loving as possible. A private memorial service will be held to celebrate Marian’s life. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Dallas Arboretum or the DFW Cocker Spaniel Rescue.
