Celebration of Marian Jane McCann Hunt LifeMarian was the fourth child born in Houston, Texas On April 17, 1931 to Vachel and Addie McCann. She was raised on a farm in Egypt, Texas with eight lovable siblings. She graduated from a private school in Conroe, Texas. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Texas College and her Masters from Texas Southern University. Marian has worked in the Garland and Dallas Independent School Districts and El Centro Junior College in Dallas, Texas. While attending Texas College she met the love of her life Willie (Uncle Doug) James Hunt. They were married June 23, 1950 through this union one child was born William James Hunt Jr. She was a member of the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., the Delta Kappa Gamma Society and Delta Pi Chapter. Marian grew up in Mt. Gilead Baptist Church Egypt,Texas, member of Hamilton Park Methodist Church Dallas, Texas as an usher and later joined Westside Baptist Church Lewisville, Texas. Marian was affectionally called the Mother of the church.Marian was known as to her nieces and nephews as Aunt Mae Mae who was a barrel of fun to them. She loved to plan reunions and family get togethers. She loved to play cards, liked music and dancing. She was known for cooking her famous Strawberry cake along with full course dinner. Her famous menu and gatherings will be missed.Survivors to cherish her memories will be her son, William James Hunt Jr.(Mary), two grandsons: William James Hunt III (Jessica) and Jermaine A. Hunt (Georgina), great grandson Ace B. Hunt, Sisters : Christine Martin Houston, Texas, Rose Hall Egypt, Texas, Joyce Coleman (Robert) Seattle Washington, Jessie Glasco Pasadena, California and brother Paul McCann (Pat) Houston, Texas with a host of niece and nephews.Visitation for Ms. Hunt will be Friday, February 15, 2019 inside The Memorial Chapel at Restland Funeral Home from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 16, 2019 at 12:00 PM at Westside Baptist Church located at 900 Bellaire Blvd Lewisville, TX 75067.Funeral arrangements for Ms. Hunt have been faithfully entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery, which is located at 13005 Greenville Ave., at the intersection of Restland Road, Dallas, Texas 75243, and can be reached at (972) 238-7111.
