Marian Levert Shivers' Obituary
Marian Levert Shivers was born September 10, 1919, in Chipley, Georgia. She was the youngest of eleven children. At age seven she went to live with one of her older sisters.
In 1938 Marian met Millard Shivers, a student at the University of Tennessee. They married July 23, 1941. They were married for 68 years until his death in 2009. While Millard was teaching agriculture at the local high school, Marian was teaching the ladies at church how to can vegetables and jelly.
They were active in church all of their lives. Marian was a faithful member of Waterview Church of Christ since 1964.
Marian was an excellent seamstress. Not only did she design and make her own clothes and those of her family, but she also sewed for the public--from alterations to making wedding dresses. She loved to cook, and she canned green beans from their garden every summer. She was an avid Dallas Mavericks fan. She loved to work the crossword puzzle every day.
Marian was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was the epitome of patience.
On Thursday, August 20, 2020, the Lord welcomed Marian home.
She is survived by her children, David Shivers (wife Kathy) and Diane Humphrey (husband Tommy); her grandchildren, Jay Humphrey (wife Kimmie), Rebecca Shivers McCord (husband Derek), Kortney Humphrey Ippolito (husband Danny), and Michael Shivers (wife Shannon); and her great-grandchildren, Jake McCord, Kingston Humphrey, Dylan McCord, Tyler Shivers, Ryan Humphrey, Jack Ippolito, Ashton Shivers, Sammy Shivers, Mixon Humphrey, and Avery Ippolito.
The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Friday, August 28, at Restland. The graveside memorial service will be Saturday, August 29, at 10:00 a.m. for all who wish to attend.
