Marie Hendrix's Obituary
The family of Andrea Marie Middleton Hendrix, with great sorrow and sadness, announces that she went to be home in the arms of our Lord on September 12, 2016. She passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family, after battling brain cancer for the past eighteen months. Marie was born on April 6, 1943 in Albany, GA and was preceded in death by parents Robert and Mary Anne Middleton and grandparents, Dr. and Mrs. C.R. McKemie. She is survived by her loving husband, Bill Hendrix, her three children, Kim Werden (Bart), Bill Hendrix Jr. (Elizabeth) , and Marianne Moye (Todd). She was a wonderful, faithful grandmother to her five grandchildren (Meridith and Caroline Werden, Davis, Will and Claire Moye) and a loving sister to Gloria Haguewood (Jim) and Bob Middleton (Gretchen). Marie was blessed to have a caring and devoted relationship with all of her nieces and nephews. After graduating from Albany High School in 1961, she attended Auburn University. Marie later worked in Atlanta, GA where she met and married the love of her life, Bill Hendrix. They resided in Jackson, TN before moving to Dallas, TX in 1976. The entire family joyfully celebrated their marriage of 50 years in March of this year. Marie’s life was her family. She was dedicated and highly involved with raising her children, as well as being a loyal wife. As her children grew older, she began working part time. Over the years, Marie was employed by The Jewelry Limited, Spring Creek Elementary, and as a consultant with BeautiControl Cosmetics for many years. Marie had a passion of volunteering in the community. Some of these included PTA, Boy Scouts, Brownies/Girl Scouts, Spring Creek Garden Club, The Baker’s Dozen for West Dallas Community School, and her neighborhood community garden. Rocking newborns in the church’s nursery and watching those children and their families grow up was perhaps one of her most cherished services. Marie and Bill were charter members of Stonebriar Community Church and have been worshipping there for nearly twenty years. Marie’s Christian faith was the foundation of her life. Marie never met a stranger and was a beloved friend to so many. Her southern charm, Georgian accent, and beautiful smile ensured that all who came in contact with her left as a friend. Friendship was important to Marie, her commitment to her friends is evident in the many relationships she has, some spanning over 60 years. A celebration of life will be held at 2:30pm, Thursday, September 15, 2016 at Stonebriar Community Church in Frisco, TX. The family has asked in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to either UT Southwestern Medical Center to support neuro-oncology or Stonebriar Community Church – Children’s Ministry.
