Marie Moore's Obituary
Marie Lundy Moore went to be with her Lord & Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, October 3, 2017, at the age of 99.Marie was born Lillie Marie Lundy, the 7th of 11 children of Enoch and Annie Lundy on September 6, 1918, growing up on a farm in Neshoba County, Mississippi. She graduated from high school in 1936 as valedictorian of her class. She attended East Mississippi College on a basketball scholarship. After college she worked for the county agent before moving to Washington, D.C. in 1942 to work for the FBI during World War II as Chief Property Clerk where she was in charge of all of the properties which she issued to the FBI agents. That was where she met her future husband, Paul Carlton Moore, who was an FBI agent. They were married on April 30, 1946, honeymooned in Mexico City, then moved to Richmond, Virginia in 1947, where their five daughters were born.Marie was active in Grove Avenue Baptist Church as GA Leader and Director, WMU President and Sunday school teacher. In 1964, the family moved to Dallas, Texas where she continued her leadership positions at Royal Haven Baptist church. She loved to sew all of her life. She made hers and all of her daughters’ clothes as they were growing up. She also made all of her daughters’ wedding dresses, except for Dorothy, who wore Marie’s wedding dress. She enjoyed traveling, singing in her church choir, playing board games and visiting with friends. When asked what she liked to do to relax, Marie said that she loved to sit in her chair and look outside at the beautiful world God made – trees, flowers and people. Marie also loved music. She played the ukulele, guitar, violin, organ and piano. Her favorites were Gospel Songs and Hymns. She also liked patriotic music. When asked about her spiritual life, she said “I am a Christian, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, died for my sins and I will live with him in Heaven.” She liked to read the Bible and go to Bible Study and Church Service.She is survived by her five daughters and their husbands Mary and Phil Spinks, Paula Marie and Wayne Stewart, Dorothy and Charles Cox, Carolyn and Jon Bible, and Nancy and John Sonka; her ten grandchildren Sherri Spinks Eppler, David Spinks, Amy Marie Stewart Smith, Michael Stewart, James Cox, Stephen Cox, Brian Cox, Anne Sonka Nagle, Katharine Marie Sonka, Joseph Sonka; her nineteen great-grandchildren Thomas Eppler, Lindsey Marie Eppler, Matthew Spinks, Ella Spinks, Claire Lilliann Smith, Alice Smith, Blaine Cox, Rachel Cox, Harper Lillie Cox, Shadle Cox, Ivy Cox, Josie Cox, Riley Cox, Audrey Cox, Lauren Clark, Allison Clark, Jack Clark, Mason Sonka and Tatum Sonka; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Paul Carlton Moore, in 1993, and all of her brothers and sisters.A memorial service will be held at The Heights Baptist Church at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 29. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Heights Baptist Church, 201 W. Renner Road, Richardson, TX 75080. Please designate your donation to Three Trees/College Ministry.Marie was a strong, loving, supportive wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Her family and friends loved her sparkling smile and vivacious personality. She will be greatly missed.
