Marie Porth's Obituary
PORTH, MARIE LUBBERT of Dallas, Texas passed away peacefully at her home on October 1, 2010. She was born on April 11,1933 in Quincy, Illinois to her parents, Walter C. and Marion Lubbert. Marie was the oldest daughter of 7 children. She married Donald R. Porth in Quincy, Illinois on December 22, 1959. She graduated from Blessing Hospital School of Nursing in Quincy Illinois. She was a resident of Dallas for more than 50 years. She worked as an operating room nurse at Baylor Hospital, Gaston Episcopal Hospital, and Mary Shiels before her retirement 15 years ago. Marie was an active member of Lovers Lane United Methodist Church for more than 40 years. Her dedication to her family was remarkable, evidenced by numerous family gatherings where many hours of food and fellowship were enjoyed. Above all, she was a woman of faith and her deeds spoke of her commitment to her Savior Jesus Christ. Marie will be lovingly remembered by her adoring husband, Don, and their children Marilou Porth, Suzanne Porth and her husband, Joe, and their children Katie and Caroline; son-in-law, Mike Walker and his children Alexander, John and Anna; one sister, four brothers, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, her older brother, John Lubbert and her daughter Laurie Porth Walker. Visitation at Restland Funeral Home on Tuesday October 5, 2010 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. A Memorial service in celebration of Marie’s life will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday October 6th in the sanctuary of Lovers Lane United Methodist Church, 9200 Inwood Road, Dallas Texas. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Lovers Lane United Methodist Church Foundation or a charity of your choosing.
