Marijo Myrick English's Obituary
ENGLISH, MARIJO MYRICK born December 8, 1927 in Dallas Texas, passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 9, 2012 while staying with her beloved daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren in Santa Barbara, California. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ross Myrick and Lucille Royal Myrick; and her husband of 18 years, James Robert English. Marijo grew up in the White Rock area of Dallas and was in the graduating class of 1944 at Woodrow Wilson High School. She attended The University of Texas in Austin and returned to Dallas where she married Eugene Edward Hranicky, a commemorated Army Veteran of World War II, who also precedes her in death. She had an extensive career as a civilian employee of the United States Federal Government both with the Federal Housing Authority and the Army Corps of Engineers. She was a long-time member of St. John’s Episcopal Church and St. Luke’s Episcopal Church. She and her husband, Bob were actively involved at St. Luke’s and she loved her community of friends there that they shared. Marijo lived her life with high values and took pride in doing her best to be kind, loyal, compassionate, understanding, and generous towards others. Growing up with a spiritually strong faith, she dedicated herself to always doing the right thing by everyone she met in life. Having a strong work ethic, keeping her word, being honest, having an admirable character and sharing a sense of humor and laughter were the driving forces that guided her life. She always was there to help anyone who needed help. Marijo was a real “Texas” beauty. She loved traveling around the world with her husband Bob and exploring beautiful areas in the U.S. and was in awe of being out in nature. She was passionate about the colors of fall in New England, the spectacular scenery of the Rocky Mountains, and eating the “fabulous” calamari at Jake’s Restaurant in Del Mar, California overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Marijo cherished spending time in Southern California with her daughter and grandchildren. She also cherished the 60 years of annual Thanksgiving Family Reunions at White Rock Lake. Marijo is survived by brother, Ross Burt Myrick, Jr. and wife of 60 years, Zada along with sons, Tony, John, and Tom and their families; sister in law, Geneva Hranicky Atwood and sons, John and Mike and their families; her daughter, Dr. Janet Hranicky and husband, Dr. Michael Galitzer; precious grandchildren, Justin, Hayley, Connor, and Grant; step son, Jim English and wife, Anita, and their children, Jeff English and wife, Lisa, Stacey English; step daughter, Laura English Burnett and husband, Phil, and their children, Jason Burnett and wife, Alesia, Julie Burnett Seedig and husband, Lyle, Shelley Burnett Collora and husband, Steven; and 7 beautiful step great grandchildren.
