Marilyn Ruth Burchfiel's Obituary
On Sunday, October 17, three days shy of her 82nd birthday, our Mother, Grandmother, and faithful wife to Stan for 62 years was ushered into heaven by her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Marilyn’s unwavering love for her Lord, her husband, and precious family was always genuinely consistent with her outgoing contagious smile and never ending laughter. While Marilyn was a Chi Omega beauty queen at Kansas State University, she met and later married fellow hometown son Charles Stanley Burchfiel of Anthony, Kansas, on June 27, 1948. During the course of 62 glorious years of marriage, Stan and Marilyn moved to Dallas from Kansas City with their first son Bryan and later completed their family with Michael and Patrick. All three sons are eternally grateful that their lives were so enriched and patterned after a Godly mother and father. With her gifts of service and compassion, Marilyn never grew weary of serving others at her home, working as the church secretary or helping feed those less fortunate across town. Marilyn and Stan have been active members of the body of Christ serving at Walnut Hill United Methodist Church for the past 49 years. All those years produced many loving friends in their church and throughout the same Sparkman Club community where they have lived since 1961. Marilyn was born in La Harpe, Kansas, October 20, 1928, to Charles and Muriel Bryan who both proceeded her in death along with her older brothers Elwyn and Jim Bryan. Marilyn is survived by her faithful loving husband Stan, her son, Bryan, his wife Roxanne and their children Brayson and Bryn; her son Michael and his children David and Jamie; and her son Pat, his wife Jennifer, and their children Katie, Emily, and Caroline. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 21st at Walnut Hill United Methodist Church (10066 Marsh Lane) in Dallas, Texas, followed by burial at Forest Park Cemetery in Anthony, Kansas. On the same day of the 2:00 p.m. service at Walnut Hill United Methodist, the family will begin receiving guests at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make all donations to Walnut Hill United Methodist Church.
