Marilyn Elizabeth Jackson's Obituary
MARILYN ELIZABETH JACKSON loved her church, family and friends beyond measure. She was humble and kind and was loved by people young and old from all parts of her life.
She was a cherished friend, daughter, aunt and sister to all who knew her. One of her greatest gifts was the many, many lifetime friendships she shared during her time on earth.
A member of St. Mark’s Presbyterian Church (Dallas) for more than 50 years, Marilyn served on numerous committees but her passion was working with the children and youth of the church. She also served as an Elder and Member of the Session for St. Marks.
She worked for the Dallas Public Library Research Department for 30 years. Ironically, she didn’t have a love of reading but loved history and had an amazing memory; being able to recall people, places and events long after they occurred. She also enjoyed researching family genealogy and was the keeper of her family’s ancestry.
Marilyn was a “glass half full” kind of person who always looked at the bright side of any situation. If someone presented her with a problem, she would find a way to lift the person up and remind them to pray for the situation.
Although she enjoyed traveling in her younger years, Marilyn was born and lived her whole life in Dallas, Texas. A true Texan.
She was born to her beautiful mother, Mary Evelyn Johnson Jackson on January 31, 1958. She was chosen to be a first daughter to her father, Ronald Asa Jackson.
Marilyn peacefully went home to be with Our Lord on June 9, 2026 where she was welcomed into heaven by her parents, Mary and Ronald Jackson, her grandparents, Minnie Lee Maffett and Howard F. Johnson, her younger sister, Janis Jackson and her beloved nephew Garrett Jackson Bruce.
Marilyn will be lovingly remembered on earth by her sister, Martha Jackson Bruce, brother in law, William "Bill"Bruce, nephews, William "Chase" (Marlene) Bruce , Blake Bruce, Grant Bruce, and great niece, Julia Staub as well as countless friends and loved ones.
All are welcome to join for a Celebration of Life in honor of Marilyn at St. Mark’s Presbyterian Church on June 20, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at 9999 Ferguson Rd, Dallas, TX 75228 wearing bright colors. Marilyn’s favorite color was red.
In Lieu of flowers, donations to St. Mark’s Presbyterian Church Christian Education Scholarship Fund would be appreciated and loved by all who knew her.
