Marilyn Rose Johnson Miller's Obituary
Marilyn Rose Johnson Miller, 84, of Rockwall, Texas, passed peacefully on Thursday, January 11, 2018 after a brief illness. She was born on May, 11, 1933 to Edward Olaf Johnson and Nancy Fern Austin Johnson in Osage City, Kansas. She married Harold Byron Miller on November 22, 1951 in Miller, Kansas and they were married for 60 years prior to his death in August of 2012.Marilyn graduated as the Valedictorian of the Miller High School Class of 1951. She and Byron moved to Emporia, Kansas after their marriage and in 1964 moved to Garland, Texas where they lived for over 40 years. She spent her career as a bookkeeper. She was an excellent cook and baker and passed many of her recipes on to her children, grandchildren and friends. She was always willing to help when a friend or neighbor was in need. There are many happy memories from the numerous family gatherings she hosted. More than anything, she loved children. She found joy in not only her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, but in the children of her nieces and nephews as well friends and neighbors.She is preceded in death by her parents, Edward O. and Nancy Fern Johnson, her husband, Harold Byron Miller, four brothers, Lawrence W. Johnson, MD, Glenn Edward Johnson, John Norman Johnson and Gary Wayne Johnson, and two sisters Velma Christine Johnson and Ardis Jeanette Johnson Williams. She is survived by her daughters Debbie Martin and husband Larry of Wylie, Texas, Deanna Wyrick and husband Gary of Sadler, Texas and Teri Iverson and husband Mitch of Rowlett, Texas, two sisters Shirley Parks and husband Laurence of Miller, Kansas and Berenice Tredway and husband Larry of Galva, Kansas, grandchildren Julie Martin Arnott and husband Jeremy of Wylie, Texas, Cody Martin of Frisco, Texas, Andrea Wyrick Gardenhire and husband Stanton of Yuma, Arizona, Samantha and Alexis Wyrick of Sadler, Texas, Blake Iverson of Sutherlin, Oregon, and Bailey, Taylor and Lauren Iverson of Rowlett, Texas, great grandchildren Ryan, Jay and Jack Arnott and Gibson and Bennett Gardenhire and numerous nieces and nephews.Visitation will be Monday, January 15, 2018 from 6:30-8:30 PM at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral service will be on Tuesday, January 16 at 11 AM in the Memorial Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. Graveside service will follow in Restland Cemetery.
