Marilyn K. Schwarz's Obituary
Marilyn K. Schwarz went to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ, on September 19th, 2024. She was completely secure in her faith, and desired to join her husband, Robert, at the feet of Jesus.
Marilyn was born to Edwin A. Kramer and Lillian Ressel Kramer on October 27th, 1934, in San Antonio, TX. Marilyn grew up with her brother Gerald Kramer, and sister Jeanette Riser. As a child, Marilyn attended private Christian School at their church, St. Paul Lutheran Church, through 8th Grade. At a young age, Marilyn learned about God’s love, grace, and mercy from her parents and from her parochial school teachers. Marilyn attended Brackenridge High School where she was co-captain of the Purple Jacket Drill Team. Marilyn caught the attention of the love of her life, Robert Schwarz, on a Student Council trip to Landa Park in New Braunfels, TX. From then on they were inseparable. Their time spent on that first day at the Guadalupe River in New Braunfels became a much-loved family tradition for over four decades, with their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren! While in New Braunfels, Marilyn especially enjoyed Naeglin’s pastries, the Grist Mill’s expanding restaurant and menu, and dancing at the Gruene Dance Hall. But most of all, she enjoyed all of her ever-growing family! Marilyn and Robert loved traveling all over the world, and spending time traveling with family and friends. Especially dear to their hearts was the time they invested in taking each grandchild to explore parts of the U.S. on what was known as their “Grandchild Trips.” Marilyn worked as an assistant to a CPA for some years prior to becoming a full-time homemaker. But her main focus was supporting Robert in everything he pursued. She loved helping Robert run the Aggieland Inn at A & M in the early 1950’s. She completely loved their years in England while Robert completed his commitment to the A & M Corps of Cadets. Marilyn played a vital role in supporting Robert while he built his State Farm Agency. Marilyn was by Robert’s side throughout their ministries at Zion, Peace, and Messiah Lutheran churches. She enjoyed being in the choir, in the LWML, and on the Evangelism Team at Zion. Marilyn enjoyed being in the hand bell choir at Peace Lutheran, and she grew in the Lord with her friends at Messiah Lutheran. Marilyn and Robert loved having their first child, Gary, with them in England, and enjoyed those two years during Robert’s Corp assignment there. Carol was born shortly after they transitioned back to the U.S. in Dallas. Cindy was born three years later, and they soon settled into the Lake Highlands neighborhood. Marilyn’s focus became raising her children in the Lord, and cooking creatively delicious meals! Marilyn would shine God’s love and kindness everywhere she went. Many wonderful family memories were made on road trips, time at the river, playing games, boating, snow skiing, fun times at the park, walks, holiday gatherings, and in their pool and own backyard. Our family is forever grateful for the traditions, memories, and legacy of love our parents gave us! Marilyn is lovingly survived by her children Gary Schwarz and wife Janet, Carol McKendree and husband Bill, and Cindy Bailey and husband Tommy; her eleven grandchildren: Mark Schwarz and Lindsay, Daniel Schwarz and Karen, Amanda Smith and Taylor, Julianne Carroll and Ian, David Schwarz and Amy, Jason James and Sara, Ford James, Katie James, Thomas Bailey, Kramer Bailey, and Clara Scott and Trevor; and 29 great grandchildren: Oliver, Aiden, Elliott, and Lucy Schwarz, Caedmon, Isaac, Luke Schwarz, Lilly, Lula, Morris Smith, Tytus, Witten, Prim, Juniper and Laney Carroll, Jackson, Addie, Maggie, Asher, Gavin Schwarz, Jesse, Julian, Jasper James, Luca, Olivia James-Garcia, Carter, Guy, Cliff, and Conrad Bailey, along with nieces and nephews. The family members already in heaven with Marilyn are her beloved husband Robert B. Schwarz, father Edwin A. Kramer, mother Lillian R. Kramer, brother and sister-in-law Gerald and Jane Kramer, sister Jeanette K. Riser, infant brother Ronald Edwin Kramer, and infant sister Jeanette Elaine Kramer, and great granddaughter Emma Carroll. Our family is very thankful for the staff at Brookdale Senior Living Center in Garland. We are especially thankful for the wonderful nurses and staff at Christian Care Community in Mesquite, including both the McMillan building and the Courtyard. The nurses and staff faithfully and lovingly cared for our Mom, alongside us, during these last two years. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the “Life Center” building fund at Messiah Lutheran Church.
