Marilyn Freeland Terrill's Obituary
Marilyn was born March 18, 1924, in Dallas, TX to Louie and Mary Freeland. She attended the Garland Ave. Baptist church with her family and three siblings. She was an outstanding student at Forest High School of Dallas where she won four Linz awards and was elected to the National Honor Society her senior year. Marilyn was also a cheerleader and an avid pianist. Marilyn attended North Texas State University for four years, where she majored in business and economics and met her future husband, Bruce S. Terrill, M.D. They were married in 1944 in Dallas. Marilyn was an accomplished pianist, a longtime student of Lazelle Light Shaffer from the Cleveland Conservatory. She also studied under Dr. Boris Grant at S.M.U., and later under Dr. Don Morton at Tarleton State University after she and her family moved to Stephenville, TX, for her husband to become a partner and physician with the Stephenville Hospital and Clinic. Marilyn was president for three years of the Erath-Hood County Medical Auxiliary. In addition, she was chairman of the political committee to elect Senator John Tower. He was the first Republican to be elected in Erath Co. and the three surrounding counties the year Marilyn was the county chairman. After Marilyn and Bruce Terrill moved to Dallas in 1961, Marilyn was an active member, and later on the board, of the Dallas Women’s Medical Auxiliary. She was also active in various other pursuits, teaching a Sunday School class at Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church and becoming a lifetime member of the Pi Beta Phi Mother’s Club. Most of all, Marilyn enjoyed being the mother of three children: Cynthia Terrill Guest, Bruce Steven Terrill, Jr. and Gregory Kent Terrill. She adored being the grandmother to six grandchildren: Christopher Terrill, Courtney Guest Kim, Traci Terrill, Kristin Tiller, Keith Robinson and Emilie Guest Wu. She was blessed to be the great-grandmother of the four children of Dr. Tony and Courtney Kim: Elizabeth, Anthony, Rebecca, and Lydia Kim of Houston. She was also the proud great-grandmother of Jackson, Joseph, and Julia Tiller, as well as Ava, Dillon, and Catherine Robinson, all of the Dallas area.She is survived by two of her children and their spouses: Dr. and Mrs. Weldon Guest of Houston, and Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Steven Terrill, Jr. of Dallas; her above-named grandchildren and their beloved spouses: Dr. Tony Kim, Mr. Joshua Wu, Mr. Maury Tiller, and Jennifer Robinson. Also surviving her are her ten great-grandchildren, as well as her brother Mr. David Freeland, her sister Marjorie Knott, her sister-in-law Mackie Freeland; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Private funeral to be held at Restland.
