Marilyn Wilson's Obituary
On November 14th, 2018, Marilyn (Lynn) Phillips Wilson, 71, loving wife and mother of three, gladly went to her eternal reward. She passed quietly after a three year battle with cancer, which she handled with aplomb and good grace. Lynn was born May 1, 1947, to Albert and Marilyn Kuehn Phillips in Dallas, TX, where she grew up and went to school. Upon graduating from Lake Highlands High School, she attended Texas Tech and the University of North Texas, earning a Major in English and Minor in Math. After college, she moved back to Dallas and married John Reagan, and together they had three sons, David, Paul, and Daniel. After she and John split, she reconnected with a high school friend, Richard (Slick) Wilson. Love blossomed and they were married at the Texas State Capitol on May 10, 1998. Lynn enjoyed many passions, including studying and teaching the Bible, quilting, and exploring the world, but her pursuits most often aligned with her children’s. For many years that involved innumerable soccer, basketball, and baseball games for all three sons. She also homeschooled her sons for many years, choosing to spend her time helping to mold her children and spend time with them. When they started performing in plays at Garland Civic Theater, she became a stage manager for numerous shows and eventually served a season as the co-chair for GCT’s Children on Stage. When Paul played soccer at St. Edward’s University, she traveled extensively to attend as many of his games as possible. And when grandkids came along, she gladly made time to attend their plays, games, and parties as well. She was always active in churches, teaching young adult Sunday School classes at First Baptist Church of Dallas, where she also sang in the choir and played handbells. Later, she would become very involved in Grace Bible Church, teaching a women’s bible study. Lynn was preceded in death by her father, Albert, and by one of her nieces, Julie. She is survived by her husband, Richard, sons David (with Colleen), Paul (with Christina), and Daniel (with Ashley), grandchildren Michael, Matthew, Cutler, and Avery, her mother Marilyn, and brothers Chuck and Jim, and a gaggle of nieces, cousins, in-laws, and so many people who loved her over the years. Those left behind will gather to rejoice in her life and grieve our loss on Saturday, November 17, 2018, at Grace Bible Church at 11 a.m., with interment at Restland Memorial Park at a later date.
