Marion W. "Joe" Demus' Obituary
DEMUS, MARION WHITNEY “JOE” 89, passed away peacefully at home on October 20, 2011 with his wife, Katherine of 65 years, by his side. He was born May 20, 1922 in Belvidere, Illinois to Harriet and Herman Demus. After graduating from Belvidere High School, Joe served in the United States Army Air Corp. from 1943 until he was honorably discharged in 1946. He was an Airplane Maintenance Tech in the 1105th AAF Base Unit. He then married the love of his life, Katherine Elizabeth Smith on May 18, 1946 in Dallas, Texas. He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from West Texas State A&M and a Master’s Degree in Accounting from SMU in 1963. He was a comptroller for Retail Company in Dallas and later he was employed by RTC and retired in 1994. He loved to travel with his wife, making numerous trips to Alaska and Florida. He had a tremendous love for the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers and Dallas Mavericks. Joe (Dad) was the rock of our family and will be missed by all his family and friends. There is now a hole in our family that cannot be filled but will be honored for his gentle and quiet ways. Joe is survived by his wife, Katherine and their three daughters, Diana and husband Rick Golden of Joshua, Texas, Linda and her husband Ralph Sanford of Juneau, Alaska and Leanne Demus of West Palm Beach, Florida, and his grandchildren, Dr. Carrie Truitt of Phoenix, Arizona, Melissa and her husband, Chris Connally of Juneau, Alaska and Jeff Foster of Manchester, New Hampshire and three great-grandchildren.
