Marion A. Leney's Obituary
LENEY, MARION A. ‘RUSTY’ left us on 1/27/2008 to be with God. Born in Olean, NY, 2/19/1921 to Frank and Inez Subjeck. Graduated from Olean High School in 1939. As the war effort was just beginning, Rusty went to work in an aircraft assembly plant in Olean, NY. In 1945, Rusty decided she wanted to do more and joined the U.S. Navy, as a WAVE. After her basic training at Great Lakes, Rusty was assigned her duty station at the Jacksonville Naval Air Station, working again as an assembler, then moved up to aircraft inspector, until her muster out in 1946. It was during this time at JNAS that she met Walter E. ‘Bud’ Leney. Bud was also in the U.S. Navy and worked as an aircraft electrician. None of the family has ever gotten a straight answer on how they met, but the story is that she tripped Bud on a roller skating rink. The two were married in Georgia in 1946. After the war, the couple returned to Bud’s home town of Buffalo, NY, where they lived until 1956, when they moved to Dallas, TX. Rusty was preceded in death by her one true love, Bud Leney. She is survived by son, Gary and wife Linda Leney; son, Brian and wife Lisa Leney; grandchildren, Christopher and wife Jennifer Leney, Jason and wife Trish Leney, Heather and husband Jon Joshua, and Brandon Leney. Rusty is also survived by 6 great grandchildren and her 3 loving dogs, Jackie, Tammy and Kelly. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 30, 2008 from 6:30-8:30 at Restland Funeral Home. Service will be 3:30 PM Thursday January 31, 2008 at Restland Wildwood Chapel. Interment will be at DFW National Cemetery Friday February 1, 2008 at 10:00 AM.
