Marjorie Phillips Gunn's Obituary
Marj was born on February 27, 1927, in Dallas, Texas, to Rupert Hicks Phillips and Menta Amelia (Cooper) Phillips. Marjorie spent most of her childhood in Dallas and Richardson, Texas (where her father was a long time city councilman and Mayor Pro Tem). Marjorie attended The Hockaday School. At the conclusion of World War II, Marjorie married H.L. ‘Pete’ Gunn and was a homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother and dedicated Presbyterian. Marjorie was a lifelong Republican, having twice attended as a delegate the State of Texas Republican Convention and once the Republican National Convention. Marjorie worked at Texas Instruments for 20 years before retiring. Marjorie and Pete lived in Dallas, Lafayette, Louisiana, Overton, Texas and Richardson, Texas. Marjorie’s hobbies included square dancing, cards and all types of needlework. Marjorie is survived by sons David of Houston, John of Toledo, Ohio, and Mark and wife Holly of Austin, as well as eight grandchildren; Wendy Stewart, Allison Lewis, Lindsay Gunn, Patrick Gunn, Andrea Gunn, Kathleen Gunn, Ryan Gunn and Connor Gunn.
