Marjorie Cecilia Marshall's Obituary
Marjorie Cecilia Marshall, a very devoted and loving wife, mother, sister, and friend, went to be with her Lord on June 13, 2010, surrounded by family. Cecilia was born November 14, 1930, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, the daughter of late Marie Catharine and George Coleman Boylson. The Boylson family moved to Irving, Texas in early 1931, where Cecilia spent the rest of her childhood growing up. She was the fifth child of 14 siblings, which include Mary C. Colonnses, Georgia C. Wheelwright, Joan C. Boatwright deceased, Rosalie B. Hokamp, Doris H. Holtz, George C. Boylson, Ellen F. Cluck, Peter A. Boylson deceased, Marie T. St. Denis, Christine E. Grant, Paula M. Walters, Brendan J. Boylson, and Michael E. Boylson. Cecilia was also very proud of each of her 23 nieces, and 30 nephews. Cecilia is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Diana Marshall of Sachse, Tx.; son and daughter-in-law Kyle and Gertrude Marshall of Mesquite, Tx.; and son and daughter-in-law Pat and Melissa Marshall of Garland, Tx. Cecilia was also blessed with seven grandchildren which were her life, and they were greatly loved, and cherished by her. They include Shane, Jordan, Kelsey, Brian, Rachel, Nathan, and Lauren. Shane, her oldest grandchild, was and still is a tremendous caregiver, and companion to his grandparents during many challenging times for which we are all very grateful. Cecilia graduated from St. Edward Academy, Dallas, Tx. in 1952. On June 29, 1957, she married Samuel Joseph Marshall II, of Dallas, Texas who survives. Cecilia served as a dietician for St Paul’s Hospital, Dallas, Tx. working with newborns and young children with special needs. When Cecilia and Sam started their own family, she became a stay at home mom, and family, church and serving others less fortunate became her life’s joy. Cecilia and Sam were long time devoted, and passionate participating members at Sunnyvale First Baptist Church, and very active members in the “JOY Class” (Jesus Others You Class). At one time Cecilia was a member of four different choirs, she loved music and worshiping the Lord through singing. She also taught several children’s classes at different levels over the years as well. Cecilia’s life was full of joy, laughter, music, cherished family, and her beloved church friends. At the same time, there were many of life’s tough challenges that came her way. None were too big for her not to conquer through hard work, her strong faith, and sheer determination. Cecilia was an inspiration for tenacity, strength, and serving others, as well as her love of music, entertaining, and her animals. Some of Mom’s favorite quotes include: “Musical” If I take the wings of the dawn, if I settle at the farthest limits of the sea, even there Your hand shall guide me, and Your right hand shall hold me fast. Psalm 139:9-10 “Colossians 3:23-24” And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ. “The Bible” 1. If you do not have a Bible get one 2. If you’ve got a Bible, read it 3. If you read the Bible, believe it 4. If you believe the Bible, live it 5. Keep a Bible by your bed 6. Live what the Bible teaches don’t quote just the scriptures 7. A Bible on the self is worthless, a Bible being read is priceless 8. Keep a notepad in your Bible 9. Studying the Bible is like feeding your soul spiritual food 10. Make a daily habit to read the Bible 11. Learn to appreciate poetry, read Psalms 12. If you think of the Bible as God’s personal letter to you, you might end up reading it as often as you read your mail 13. God’s word is “Eternal” 14. The Bible is a gift to be shared with others In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dallas SPCA, or any animal shelter of your choice.
