She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Watt Wellington Winn, Jr. of Dallas, TX, her son and his wife: Scott Ellis and Claire Taylor Winn of Crested Butte, CO and two daughters and their husbands: Tommy Maurice and Laura Lindsey Shaw of Simms, TX; Timothy Lyn and Lisa Marie Hearn of Cumming, GA. Eleven grandchildren received her love and care:, Christopher Stephen, Aaron Maurice Shaw (and wife Raquel), Amber Gayle Shaw, Cassidy Dawn Shaw, Taylor McKendree Winn, Ashley Nicole Shaw, Sarah Elizabeth Winn, Morgan Nicole Hearn, Michael Aaron Winn, Sidney Catherine Hearn, John Wellington Hearn and two great-grandchildren: Kayson Maurice Shaw and Erin Lynn Shaw. Marjorie is also survived by her younger brother and his wife: Roger Cleveland and Beth Ryan Ellis of Houston, TX. Our mother selflessly served her three children, desiring to provide us with every experience that she did not receive herself growing up: She taught herself to cook by necessity as a child and fell in love with it so much she became a gourmet cook. Mom made sure we always had delicious and healthy meals. (and delicious desserts)! Birthdays were always celebrated and always included Mom’s creativeness which was especially expressed in her talent for making beautiful decorator cakes. Mom taught herself to sew, and made sure we had hand-stitched, unique costumes for Halloween and other special events. She also created many articles of clothing for Lisa & Laura and their dolls. She made special holidays memorable and beautiful with her giftedness with crafts of all kinds; Easter brought hand painted Easter trees with intricately handmade decorations, frosty sugar eggs with Easter scenes hidden inside, and molded chocolate candy varieties. Christmastime brought handmade ornaments for the tree & dangling from our large back window, hand-stitched & unique stockings, a special handmade advent calendar, homemade wreaths & other unique and classy décor. Mom also made sure that our medical & dental care was fully up to date, and made sure we experienced the fun of the extracurricular activities of our choosing. During this time, Mom faithfully served in the Dallas Independent School District. She exceeded expectations both at E.D. Walker Middle School as the Secretary to the Principal and Hillcrest High School as the Principal’s Office Manager. She was well loved by the teachers and office staff with her cheerfulness, her knowledge of all things necessary, and her extreme attention to detail. She took great pleasure in getting to know the staff, being able to answer their questions, and following through any assigned tasks with excellence. Throughout each year, Mom crafted handmade ornaments to place in each staff member’s mailbox for Christmas. Before this time, Mom had risen above her circumstances and achieved great honors in her early working years. She and our dad accomplished the great task of caring for and training all three of us, and successfully provided everything we needed to go out on our own. The most important place they led us was to church, where we began our journey as Christ followers. Our family would like to say a very special thanks to Tatia Ortiz whose genuine love and caregiving.for our mother was beyond compare. Thank you for loving our mom. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to First Methodist Church, 2201 E. Hebron Pkwy. Carrollton, TX 75010. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243.
