Mark Christopher Allred's Obituary
“Well done, my good and faithful servant.” These are the words that Mark Christopher Allred, age 49, must have heard when he took his last breath on earth and entered eternity in Heaven on June 30, 2022. He passed away peacefully, holding his wife’s hand and listening to hymns, after a two-and-a-half-year battle with cancer and fourteen-year battle with heart failure. Mark was born on February 25, 1973, in Dallas, Texas to Dene and Mary Allred. He accepted Christ at a young age, and served Him throughout his whole life. He graduated from Berkner High School (1991), Howard Payne University (1996), and got his master's degree at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (2003). Mark married his high school sweetheart, Amy Yancey Allred, in 1996 and had four children, one which preceded him in death. They were members of Lake Pointe Baptist Church Firewheel Campus.
Mark spent his whole life loving on and serving others. He loved The Lord and did ministry as a youth minister, pastor, and hospice Chaplin. He was known as the singing chaplain to many because he spent much of his time with his patients singing old hymns that they loved so much. He faithfully ministered to not only his patients, but also his many colleagues and everyone around. Many times, there would be chaplains that came into his hospital room, and they would leave saying they felt that Mark ministered to them rather than the other way around. He would connect with strangers wherever he went. He carried snacks around in his car to give to the homeless as he drove down the road. Mark coached many of his children’s sports teams and was a Boy Scout leader for both boys. He loved his family dearly and made any sacrifice necessary for them. He loved going to the beach and listening to the waves as they came in, enjoyed playing video games online with friends, shooting guns at the shooting range and playing darts with friends at the Sachse Icehouse.
Mark is survived by his wife, Amy Yancey Allred of Sachse; his children, Christopher Allred of Denton, Kyleigh Allred of Dallas, and Caleb Allred of Sachse; his parents Dene and Mary Allred of Richardson; brother Matt Allred of Rowlett; sister and brother-in-law Melanie and Ed Kirk of Richardson; niece Madison Blackstock of Ft Meade, MD; nephew Cohen Allred of Post; Allie Allred of Rowlett; In-Laws, Bill and Doris Yancey of Garland, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his firstborn son, Chandler Allred; grandparents, Jodie and Aliece Allred and grandparents James and Alene Evans.
Please join us in celebrating his life during a visitation Wednesday, July 6th 2022 night from 6-8pm at Restland Funeral Home, and at his service at The Heights Church (chapel) in Richardson, Thursday, July 7th 2022 at 10:00am. Committal Service will follow at Restland Memorial Park.
