I met Mark in HSL-32 when I was A First Class Ordnanceman working as the squadron IMRL Manager and he was my boss. Fast forward about 25 years, long after I had moved back to the fixed-wing community, I received a phone call from Mark. He had hunted me down to thank me for taking care of him when he was a J.O. The gentleman was truly a class act and I’m proud to have called him my friend.

Mark and I used to alternate as submarine commanders during LAMPS factory training. Located remotely in the Ship Lab, we would sit at the simulator, hats on backwards and shouting orders in "B" movie German accents. Much laughter ensued... then and for years thereafter.
Mark was my first boss in HSL-32 Material Control when I was an an Ensign. He was a wonderful mentor and ensured I did my job correctly and stayed out of trouble. He was a pioneer in the LAMPS community, a stellar aviator and became a good friend.
When together, Mark and I were a traveling improv comedy skit. When doing LAMPS training, we did a multi-day, "B" movie scene where we were German U-boat skippers, wearing our hats backwards and shouting commands in phony adventure to each other in the simulator. No audience except ourselves, but something we laughed at for years to come. I'm laughing about it now.
Mark and I flew together at HC-4 back in the early 70's. A great guy and we kept in touch over the years. My sincerest condolences to TJ and the rest of the family. May his memory be a blessing to all who knew him.
