Mark Edward Smythe's Obituary
Mark Edward Smythe, 74, of Keller, Texas passed away peacefully on January 26, 2024, surrounded by his adoring family.
A native of Dallas, Texas, Mark was born to Walter and Leah Smythe on January 24, 1950. He graduated from Sunset High School and attended Dallas Baptist University. While involved with his church choir, he met and married Deborah Kurt in 1978. He later earned his master’s degree from Texas A&M Commerce in 1992.
Mark's impressive career in education spanned 50 years at more than 7 campuses. Being an educator was his true passion and purpose. With a Texas-sized heart, Mark will be remembered for the compassion, kindness, and love he showed so many.
Mark is preceded in death by his father Walter Smythe, and his mother Leah Boatwright Smythe.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Debbie Smythe, children Lindsay Buckmeyer and her husband Brian Buckmeyer, Ashley Chance and her husband Ryan Chance, Grandchildren Leah and Brianne Buckmeyer, and Gavin and Gwyneth Chance.
The family will be holding a memorial service for Mark on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at 10 AM at White's Chapel Methodist Church, 185 S. White Chapel Boulevard, Southlake, TX 76092.
