Marlin John Howard's Obituary
HOWARD, MARLIN JOHN Mr. Howard passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on March 12, 2011 at the age of 91. He was born on December 7, 1919 in San Antonio, TX to Paul and Alice Howard. He graduated from Central Catholic High School in San Antonio and attended St. Mary’s University before joining the United States Navy in 1941. He served in the Pacific Theater during World War II, earning the rank of Lieutenant before leaving the Navy in 1946. After the war, he worked as a weather forecaster in Big Spring, TX before completing his Bachelor’s Degree at Texas Tech University. He moved to Dallas where he married Dorothy Koenig in 1955; they settled in Richardson and raised three sons. Marlin worked as an accountant until his retirement in 1986. He lived comfortably until complications from Alzheimer’s claimed his life. The family would like to thank the excellent nurses and staff of Golden Heritage Hospice for the special care and support that everyone extended to Marlin and our family over the last year. Marlin is survived by his wife, Dorothy; sons, Wes and Les; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and a brother and his son, Russ. Service will be held at 3:00PM, Wednesday, March 16, 2011 in the Wildwood Chapel at Restland Cemetery, 13005 South Greenville Ave, Dallas, TX. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.als.org.
