Marlon Plez Pendergrass' Obituary
Marlon Plez Pendergrass, age 89 of Dallas, Texas, passed away at home on August 5, 2015. He was born in Florence, Alabama to Jesse J. Pendergrass and Ethel Bishop Pendergrass. As a young man he met and married the love of his life, Ruby Mae Richards in 1944. After the birth of their three children, the family moved to Mishawaka, IN in 1951 where he and Ruby lived the next 40 years. Upon retirement they relocated to Dallas to be close to their children. Marlon was a 50 year member of Freemasonry. And was a proud member of Scottish Rite Bodies, Hella Shrine, and Dallas Elks Lodge. He spent many years working for his treasured Fraternal Organizations in every way possible. Ballroom dancing was another passion for Marlon, which lasted until age 85 when he hung up his dancing shoes. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Ruby Mae Pendergrass, and children, Carole Smith (spouse Dennis Smith), Charlotte Bailey (widow of Claire E. Bailey), and Dennis Pendergrass (spouse Deborah), Grandchildren Leanne Baker, Paul Horvath, Matthew Sanders, Wesley Sanders, Dennis Pendergrass, Jr., and Rachael Pendergrass Bigelow, as well as numerous great-grandchildren. Family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm on Monday, August 10, 2015 at Restland Funeral Home. Services will take place at 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 in The Memorial Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75238 at Restland Road. In lieu of flowers the family request contributions be made to Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, 2222 Welborn Street, Dallas, TX 75219.
