Marshall “Grandy” Bateman8.25.32 – 10.17.18On Wednesday, October 17, 2018, Marshall Bateman, loving husband and father of four children passed away at the age of 86.Marshall was born on August 25th, 1932 in Shawnee, OK to Floyd and Minnie Lee Bateman. He received a Bachelor’s of Science degree from the University of Oklahoma in 1953. His career in Advertising began in Oklahoma City until he moved his family to Dallas and began working at Tracy-Locke Advertising where he was a Senior Vice President of Account Management. Marshall opened his own Ad agency in 1983, where he serviced local clients until retiring in 2000. On January 28, 1955, he married Lucy Ann Griffin and they raised one daughter, Susan and three sons, Mark, Mike and Tom.Marshall liked creating things. Whether it was his love for painting, drawing cartoons or writing beautiful poems at weddings and grandkids birthdays, he received the most joy from making others smile. Marshall always had a clever saying or playful joke to share with anyone that he met. He had a strong faith and lived his life serving others. He and Lucy were very active in their church where he sang in the choir and taught 5th grade Sunday School for over 25 years. They enjoyed the fellowship of friends in book and bridge clubs and listening to live country music. He was a longtime volunteer for Meals on Wheels and served on the board of the Dallas Ad club for many years.Marshall was preceded in death by his father, Floyd, his mother, Minnie Lee and his brother Jerry. He was also preceded in death by his son, Steve. Marshall is survived by his loving wife, Lucy Ann, his four children and their spouses, Susan and David Solomon, Mark and Kathy Bateman, Mike and Mindy Bateman and Tom and Julie Bateman, all of Dallas, TX. Marshall had 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 20th, 2018 at Wilshire Baptist Church at 4316 Abrams Rd., Dallas, TX 75214 at 3pm.
