Marshall Leon Messick, 76, of Garland, Texas passed away on April 9, 2018 in Dallas, Texas. He was born on December 10, 1941 to Frank Messick and Lula Mae Messick in Vernon, Texas. Marshall married Rhetta Cates on August 12, 1962 in Vernon, Texas. He was a type setter/proofreader at Express Type for 20 plus years. Most recently Marshall was a crossing guard for Garland ISD. He was a member at Northlake Baptist Church in Garland, Texas. Marshall served in the United States Army.He is survived by his daughter, Amanda Hall and husband DeJuan of Garland, Texas; son, Shawn Messick of Garland, Texas; son in law, Steve Epperson; brother, Ron Messick of Garland, Texas; sister, Norma Miller and Shirley Tippit; granddaughters, Brianna Hall, Micaela Messick, Lindsey Oney and husband Steven; grandson, Joshua Messick and Jason Messick; great granddaughters. Zoe Messick, Karlee Messick, Miley Donaldson, Liana Messic, Ava Messick, and Alexia Oney ; great grandsons, Jayden Messick and Joshua Donaldson; and a host of Nieces and Nephews. Mr. Messick is preceded in death by his parents, Lula Mae and Frank Messick; wife, Rhetta Messick; daughter, Melissa Epperson; sister Bettye Tracy; and brothers James Messick, Bill Messick, and Donald Messick;The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Restland Funeral Home from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, April 12, 2018. A funeral service for Mr. Messick will be held at 2:30 pm, Friday, April 13, 2018 at the Memorial Chapel at Restland Funeral Home.
